Hello and welcome to the home for our handcrafted soap company, Pure Goodness Bath & Body. My name is Mike Aksamit and this is our story.
My wife Jenny and I have been loyal customers of Pure Goodness Bath & Body since Denise Grundler, the founder, created the business concept and recipes. Jenny and I first met Denise and her husband, Tim, at a Made in Minnesota event. I wasn’t really thrilled about going to the show but did as any good husband would do and simply said “Yes dear, I would love to go.” While we were walking around from booth to booth, we stopped at Pure Goodness Bath & Body. Not really sure what “goat milk soap” was, I had very little interest in the products they were selling. Jenny, on the other hand, was very interested. They spoke for several minutes on the different products Denise had along with the benefits of
each. Jenny was mostly interested in her many offerings of soap.
I remember Jenny handing me a bar of soap and asked what I thought. My first impression and thought was simple: “There is no way you are going to get me to try a smelly bar of soap!” Tim overheard me saying this and asked me if I’ve ever experienced dry, itchy skin in the winter time? It was impossible for me to tell him no. I’m outside a lot in the winter and our Minnesota winter weather simply
dries out your skin. Tim described how Handcrafted Soap, and goat’s milk soap in particular, has extremely high rehydrating properties. Commercially made soaps are actually detergents and the hydrating properties are removed, whereas handcrafted soaps contain more pure and natural products that add the hydrating properties back in. He told me to try it and promised I’d never try another soap again. You know what? He was right! We were immediately delighted and impressed with the results. It became very clear to us, we found a product we’d never stop using.
Five years later we received an email alert from Denise announcing that, due to a life-altering event, she was closing her soap company. My wife and I, along with several of her loyal customers, immediately panicked. Jenny asked me if we should consider buying the company?
We had just recently sat in on a presentation with Bertha Hewitt School's entrepreneur class. Jenny suggested the soap company would be a perfect match for the students. We contacted Denise and proposed the idea of buying Pure Goodness Bath & Body.
Jenny and I are so impressed with the Pure Goodness Bath & Body products, we bought the company along with all of Denise’s wonderful recipes. Denise has also taught the Bertha Hewitt students the proper techniques along with the fine art of making those wonderful, handcrafted soaps and bath products and they now are successfully mastering this art themselves.
The goal of Pure Goodness Bath & Body along with the Bertha Hewitt entrepreneur students is to simply be committed to providing you with the same amazing bath and body products the customers are already accustomed to. We will achieve this goal with the same quality and service that promote the good health and harmony the previous customers have come to expect and deserve.
Now it’s time for you, to give all of Pure Goodness Bath & Body products a try. We promise, you won’t regret it!
Our products fall into one of two categories: Natural or Nearly Natural. We make every attempt to keep our products as natural as possible. However, there are times when fragrance oils are used instead of essential oils or an artificial color is used instead of a natural color. The reason for this is simple. Essential oils and natural colors are limited in selection, while there is a much wider selection of fragrances and colors when using fragrance oils and pigments.
As you shop, you will notice each item has a full description, which includes a list of all ingredients used. If you ever have a question about the ingredients we use, please feel free to contact us.
Pure Goodness Bath & Body prides themselves on purchasing from local farmers when possible. We would like to thank our first local suppliers, Abner and Carol Miller, for providing the pure goat milk that is used in many of the products produced by Pure Goodness Bath & Body.
